Arriving in a country that is not your own is always an exciting adventure, but the fact that Chile was the country where I studied for a semester, was incredible for me and one of the best gifts of life. It is a country with great culture, nature, beauty as well as an excellent night life and “carretes” (parties).
Being in Chile helped me to see life in a different manner. I had the experience of living without my parents, I made friends with people from around the world, I got to know this incredible country and I discovered how fantastic it was to get out of my comfort zone.
Of course the beginning is always difficult, but once I began to adapt, the only fear I had was that I had to leave. Having a cultural exchange with people from all over the world made me grow a lot as a person and made me more tolerant and empathetic.
At the Universidad Santo Tomás, all of the instructors were always attentive to us as foreigners; they helped us and made us feel as if we were at home. The professors always made sure that we understood the material and never left us to fend for ourselves, and our classmates helped us with homework and studying. I am sure that coming to Chile was an experience that I will never forget and will be one of the best memories in my life.
