Anna Mewes

Germany, Medicine

The first day at the hospital, in the area of gynecology, I found four very friendly interns who helped me learn Chilean Spanish, study and spend my evenings enjoying their company.

At first I was a little scared of doing something wrong, however, doctors and midwives were very patient and understanding with me. One of the most special experiences was the time I attended a delivery for the first time. It was amazing, I’ll always be grateful to the midwives for giving me this chance.

The medical career system in Chile is very interesting. Chilean students have so many possibilities for active and high responsibility practices that it meant a real challenge for me. It was an intense experience and I am so glad I did part of my studies in the city of Coquimbo.
