South Zone: From Bío Bío to Los Ríos

The confluence between Mediterranean and wet oceanic weather full of showers during the winter turned this area into a unique place to visit, known for an extensive vegetation with lots of fluvial watercourses. All this gets better if you count the familiar and warm character of the southern families and the many tourist offering to get all what the south has to give.


  • Pucón & Villarrica

    This place offer lots of possibilities for adventure such as the National Park Huerquehue, with its splendid natural wonders like the lakes Verde and Tinquilco. Both cities show the history of the colonization through the architecture and also in the gastronomy, with lots of hints of Mapuche traditions and flavors (native culture from the territory).   • Chillán

    Widely known for its delicious sausages, this place has more than meat to offer. The white mountains of Los Andes are the perfect destination for adventurous people. The Nevados de Chillán ski centre has relaxing activities and sports.   • Valdivia

    This southern pearl is a must for people who love nature and enjoy the unique mix of cultures. This area is full of rivers and watercourses, and the Calle Calle River is the one that crosses through the city of Valdivia. This city has a long legacy including: Mapuche culture, the Spanish conquistadors and the German colonials.   • Salto del Laja

    This cascade is one of the biggest attractions of the Bíobio area and worth the trip if you are around. The four waterfalls fall down between 40 and 50 metres and they are strong enough to bathe the visitors while they pass through the exploration path.
