UCH – Spanish courses for foreigners

 

The Schools of Philosophy and Humanities and of Physical Sciences and Mathematics of the University of Chile offer Spanish as a Second Language (ELE) programs.

 

School of Philosophy and Humanities (Semester Program)

The main objective of the semester courses is to develop oral and written communication skills in Spanish in social and professional/academic contexts at different levels of learning.

Levels available:

  • Elementary
  • Post elementary
  • Pre-intermediate
  • Intermediate
  • Post intermediate

Each course has 4.5 hours per week, divided into 3 classes of 1.5 hours. Depending on the level, the courses have 2 or 3 modules, all of them compulsory, because they are part of the same course.

The elementary and post-elementary levels consist of 2 modules, Communicative-Social Spanish (3 hours), and Communicative Grammar (1.5 hours). The pre-intermediate, intermediate, and post-intermediate levels consist of 3 modules of 1.5 hours each, Communicative-Social Spanish, Communicative Grammar, and Spanish for Academic and Professional Purposes.

Faculty of Physical Sciences and Mathematics: (Immersion course)

The Virtual Spanish Immersion courses seek to provide foreign students, academics, researchers, and professionals with the communication skills necessary to interact effectively with other Spanish speakers. In this way, the course provides participants with activities that promote active learning and problem-solving skills.
