The Doctorate in Social Sciences, mention in Youth Studies, belonging to the Research and Postgraduate School of the Faculty of Social and Legal Sciences of the Universidad Católica Silva Henríquez, was born in accordance with the vision, mission and history of our institution and, particularly, with its Salesian character. Transversally, the promotion of young people is the objective that strongly guides our daily action. Accordingly, our institution, through its Centro de Investigación en Ciencias Sociales y Juventud (CISJU, or Center for Research in Social Sciences and Youth), has extensive research experience in this area.

We understand that youth are built by society and, at the same time, are builders of society. Hence, the core of this PhD program aims to delve into this duality: the youth condition and the youth prominence.

The PhD aspires to become a formative space for researchers and professionals who seek to contribute to the generation of knowledge and critical reflection from a transdisciplinary perspective. Thus, it addresses the complexity of contemporary youth realities, their cultures, values, and practices as a privileged starting point to understand local and global realities in full transformation. It is a hybrid program.
