Universidad Diego Portales (UDP) created in 1982, is a non-profit organization, and is accredited in all areas for 5 years (by the CNA, from October 2018 to October 2023).

The academic model of the UDP is based on quality professional training, with teaching linked to research, comprehensive training committed to the development of the country, strong internationalization links and a robust continuing education project. The UDP has 10 faculties (Social Sciences and History, Architecture, Art and Design, Communication and Letters, Law, Economics and Business, Education, Engineering and Sciences, Medicine, Psychology, and Health and Dentistry), an outstanding Institute of Philosophy, one of the most important publishers in the country, with numerous reprints and international reach, in addition to more than 20 specialized research institutes.

It currently has more than 16,000 students in 35 undergraduate courses and also has 6 doctoral programs, 3 with international double degrees, 19 master’s degrees, 9 medical and/or dental specialties, 48 diploma courses and 8 postgraduate degrees.

UDP ranks third in Latin America in the THE Young Universites Ranking (2022), ranked 162 worldwide among a total of 539 universities in total. Diego Portales University is positioned as the fifth best university in Latin America, according to the Times Higher Education (THE) ranking for Emerging Economies 2021. In the last 5 years, the UDP has been consistently ranked in the main national and international rankings within the 10 best universities in Chile and as one of the three best private institutions, standing out particularly in terms of its research production with more than 1,600 Web of Science publications between 2016 and 2020.

The UDP is part of the Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities (CRUCH).
