Throughout this year, Chile has been chosen by different international media as a must-see destination for 2017. Check out the main reasons that placed Chile in the map.

During this year different international media chose Chile among the best destinations to visit, due to its touristic appeal, its diverse nature and geography or its gastronomic culture, among other reasons. Read about some of the reasons to choose Chile as a destination for your studies.

Nature and its Contrasts

With a length of 4.270 kms from north to south, accompanied by extreme weather, Chile has 36 national parks throughout its territory. This includes a huge diversity of flora, fauna and ecosystems, with a unique geography that brings to life incredible landscapes. Inside this thin strip of land you can find yourself in the middle of the driest desert in the world in Atacama, north of the country; on the other hand, in the south you can visit fjords, glaciers, besides subpolar islands in the Magallanes region. Each destination is connected with routes and highways that make the access a lot easier.

These reasons drove the British newspaper The Telegraph to choose Chile as the best destination to visit in 2017, above Canada, India and New Zealand. Also National Geographic named it as the South American gem.

Culinary and Wine Culture

The same geographic diversity and the long distances between regions have made of Chile a place where there is a great diversity in terms of gastronomy. In its list “The Foods You Have to Eat in Chile,” Travel and Leisure highlighted the wide variety of dishes that can be found in the different zones of the country, the abundance of seafood and also those preparations that, regardless of location, are traditionals for the entire country.

Also, as there is no food that cannot be accompanied by a good wine, Chile and its worldwide renowned production of this product was included in the CNN list “World’s best wine tours and trails — from France to Australia”. Naming Valle del Maipo as Chile’s wine industry cradle, the easy access to vineyards and the possibility to see in the processes associated to a quality wine first-hand!are stand outs for the magazine. In this way, Chile is placed at same level of other regions known by the quality of their grapes, as the Napa Valley in California, France or Italy.
